3. The Accommodation-Catering Department
Forty five out of one hundred and seventy students are residents of the Foundation. Accommodation in the Residence Halls is not an end in itself, but in a way of allowing those whose homes are too far away, who have no family, or those whose family has problems to attend the Foundation. To maintain family ties and avoid institutionalisation, residents return home for weekends, public holidays and vacations. Life in the four Residence Halls of the Accommodation-Catering Department is modelled on the family unit. Even through each resident has a single room, they take active part in the life and activities of "their home" in which the Residence Hall Officers are the "parents" and the residents are the "children".
